Choosing the best dog collar and leash for your puppy
Good choices are a nylon or rolled leather collar to hold an identification tag and braided nylon training (slip) collar for preliminary obedience work (Note: never leave a training collar on your puppy when you are not home. Your puppy could catch the end of the collar on something and injure or choke himself.) A lightweight nylon show lead (6 feet) is nice to start with for a young pup, moving to a leather lead (6 ft) and a metal or nylon training collar as the puppy grows. An alternative to the traditional training collar is a head collar such as a gentle leader or halter.
